A Special Start to School: Welcoming Our New First Graders
On 20 August, we celebrated a very special milestone at the German Embassy School Addis Ababa: the first day of school for our new first graders.
Accompanied by their class teachers, Ms Wondimu and Ms Hilpert, the children began their journey symbolically at the kindergarten and made their way onto the school grounds. There, they were warmly welcomed by the school community with singing, marking their transition from kindergarten to primary school.
The celebrations continued in the gymnasium with a special programme. Principal Robert Hasse and Deputy Principal Abdel Boulghalegh officially opened the ceremony and welcomed the children and their families. This was followed by a short address from Cornelia Bezabih, Head of Primary School.
The programme was confidently guided by our two Grade 4 students, Kena and Adey. A special highlight was a wonderful theatre performance by the Grade 2 students, who helped make the occasion even more memorable for our newest members of the school community.
To conclude the ceremony, the first graders finally set off together with their class teachers to enter their new classrooms – an exciting first step into their school journey.
We warmly welcome all our new first graders to the DBSAA community and wish them a joyful start, many new friendships, exciting discoveries and every success throughout their school years!
